WE are never ever ever getting back together

#FOREVERALONE, is becoming  the more popular hashtag, as Valentines Day rears it’s heart smothered head. Flowers a bundle, chocolate galore and flourishing, heartbreaks? High School relationships can be risky with your impending future hovering just out of reach. Committing to someone is an intense thing to do in these vulnerable times of your life. Whether your plans are to move out of state for college or to pursue a career a long term relationship may be a bump in the road for you presenting contradictory choices. When surveyed by “stageoflife.com”, 61% of teens claim to have been or are still in love. What do you think, can we really love this early? Also according to “stageoflife.com”, 94% of teens believe that true love exists. Sometimes, negative relationships don’t always ruin your perception of love, “I hated him I just didn’t know, I was a sophomore and he was a senior and he was very controlling, I always felt like I was doing something wrong,” Junior Emma Hauge says about a past relationship that sits bitterly in her memory.

When asked about her optimism about high school relationships,“He just wasn’t the right person, High school relationships aren’t a bad thing,” Hauge said. The risk of college looms over us like a dark cloud threatening to rip couples apart from their secluded bubble.

“We are going to try and make it work,” Junior Claire Soucy says about her three month relationship with  Senior Jake Middendorf. Middendorf is leaving in the fall for the University of Montana leaving Soucy here to finish high school. Soucy talked about the struggles her long distance relationship may bring; “Not seeing him because we hang out every day” she said. High school is a testing time to finding yourself and creating who you are and who you want to be. Valentines day is a holiday that means much to some and very little to others in high school. Relationships can be enlightening and experience filled but at the end of the day is the heartbreak worth the risk? High school relationships have proven heartbreaking and distracting in the process of moving forward into your future.
