The senior girls fought to victory, doing it again with a score of 28-14. They scored a touchdown in the first 3 plays, and never lost their lead. They kept the juniors to 2 touchdowns. “Losing was not an option for the seniors,” quarterback Lauren Nicksic said. They fought hard to snatch each other’s flags from their wastes, diving and tossing themselves around the field. “When the going gets tough, I get tougher,” senior Abbie Miller said. The two teams practiced 6 times for this game and were excited for the night. “It was really fun, easy and nerve racking. My team was playing my sisters team, so it threw in a bit if a sibling rivalry,” senior Sarah McKeehen said.

While the girls waited for their quarter of play some of them went for a warm up jog around the track. Others practiced catching and throwing the football to each other, and some enjoyed watching the cheerleaders do their thing. On the uncovered bleachers the fans and parents wiped down the seats from the rainfall just before the game started. They had to bundle up in blankets and their warmest clothes. Some people waved around sparkly posters for their players, other enjoyed the humor of the cheerleaders, and some just cringed at the sight of their girls playing football, hoping they would be safe out there.

“This game is intense and I loved cheering for it, this is better than boys playing football,” fan Eric Olvera said. The senior boys entertained the crowd by cheering for their girls nonstop. “We are giving the girls a run for their money, we are having so much fun tonight,” senior cheerleader Dakota McFarlin said. The juniors in pink and the seniors in camo fought till the end.
