Wednesday night girl’s lacrosse continued league play facing off against Ballard. The girls took home the win, beating Ballard 16-4. Snohomish went into half with a 9-3 lead and added seven more goals in the second to get their second win of the season. The team was led by junior attacker Hannah Graves who had six goals and four groundballs.

“It was a good game to come back from the loss to Eastside Catholic and work on our game,” senior attacker Jackie Shaff said, “We really improved in the transition and keeping possession of the ball.”

Shaff had one goal on the night and is one of the offensive leaders for the team. Junior Helen Bouchard’s two goals, four draw controls, four groundballs, and four caused turnovers also helped lead the team to victory.

“This win was not just an act of one person, it is a team sport and we could have never had this win without acting like a team,” sophomore Natalie Church said. Church had two goals and two ground balls, being 5’10” she is the primary girl on the draw able to reach above most opponents. “Natalie is really good at drawing to herself and getting the ball for our team. Her height is a real advantage and there are things that only she can catch,” Shaff said.

The defense allowed only four goals without two of their primary defenders. They were led by senior defender Emma Ferguson who had two caused turnovers. Snohomish faces Nathan Hale Thursday at Glacier Peak and continues to fight to win their league.
