The Grizzly football team has made amazing efforts all season and they have truly shown. This Friday, November 6th, the Grizzlies play against Seattle Prep High School at Veterans Memorial Stadium for the battle for state.

In the beginning of every season, the grizzlies always set goals for themselves to accomplish, “Our team goal is to always beat Snohomish and to win WESCO championships. This season we had a lot of key contributors from last year and we have a great team chemistry which keeps us very optimistic,” Coach Rosenbach said.

The grizzlies accomplished one of their goals and went on to beat Snohomish and many other teams during their regular season. The Glacier Peak varsity football has gone 7-1 during their whole regular season only losing to Bellevue, who is ranked second in the state in the 3A division. “The score was 6-10 at the end of the second quarter and that was pretty cool because it was the closest we have ever gotten to defeating Bellevue.” Brendan Berg said.

Although the homecoming loss was a letdown for the team, all the rest of the Wesco games were a breeze for the team including the Wesco South 3A Championship against Edmonds-Woodway. “The warriors tried to do a double reverse to trick us, but we outsmarted them, and their play didn’t work. So that was pretty cool,” cornerback, Sam Wyatt said.

“I got five touchdowns! I was confident I was going to score but I did not expect my performance that night.” Carter said. The team was extremely happy about winning the championship, earning the higher seed in districts and accomplishing another one of their goals; but the grizzlies knew that they needed to put constant effort to continuously succeed.

The grizzlies did just that, in a push and pull game against Arlington High School, the boys pulled through with a ten point lead against the eagles, resulting a win of 29-19.

After their win against Arlington, the grizzlies are moving on to their next game against Seattle Prep, the game that decides the fate of the grizzlies’ state eligibility. “We’ve been practicing a lot to prepare for this game, we have also been watching a bunch of film to know Prep’s play and weak spots to better understand the way to win the game,” Wyatt said

The grizzlies have truly proved their motto for the year and left no doubt, so come out and support your “Mighty Grizzly team” this Friday at 7 o’clock as they fight for state against the Seattle Prep Panthers.
