It’s the real deal. Thursdays at 2:30, dozens of people flood Mr. Benson’s room and they play all sorts of games. Video games, card games, board games and even figurine painting. The fun is never ending.

One of the most popular games is Magic of the Gathering, a trading card game that involves wizards, spells and battles. When Mr. Benson talks about game club his eyes widen, and his body language says he is the most comfortable surrounded by all the students excited about gaming. As game club is getting bigger and bigger they are looking to possibly meet in the cafeteria instead.

“Last year alone they raised over 2,000 dollars.” To him, these are his people and he couldn’t be happier to see so many people come. Although his role as an advisor is just to make sure things run smoothly, he takes it a step farther and participates. He recently built a light stand that would have cost a couple hundred of dollars if purchased from a store for painting figurines, and you can always find him playing games with the club members. President Anson Wooten has been in game club for the last 4 years and enjoys it most for “The family it has created, and the party like atmosphere because everyone knows each other.”
