From comedic half naked boys dancing on stage, to cross dressing and a little cute couple action from Mr. Blair and Mr. Divito; this year’s Mr. GPHS competition determined who the true Mr. GPHS really is. Throughout the night we saw the contestants from all four grade levels showing off their swim wear, talent, pick-up lines, and fashion.

The contestants kept the crowd entertained with interpretive dances from juniors Griffin Price, Camden Carter, and Marshall Elliot. There was an impressive guitar and singing combination from junior Devon Potts that pulled him to a third place finish.

Seniors James Horne and Logan Duke showed off their bodies while dancing to “It’s Raining Men” by The Weather Girls in nothing but swim shorts. The other group of seniors including Logan Preece, Jason Lindsay, and Brady Southard showed their rhyme abilities through slam poetry including the a verse “Went to Chick-Fil-A and got a cheeseburger with waffle fries” and “Dead, Dead, Dead.”

Those craftily said lines brought them in as runners up.

Freshmen Jesse Campbell and Cole Nugent also used a guitar to their advantage in their act. Cole played the guitar and Jesse swam on a chair.

Sophomore Derek Albrecht went all out for the occasion and dressed like a girl with much exaggerated assets. He lip synced to “All About That Bass” by Meghan Trainor. He also finished off the night by answering the final question; “What color best describes you?” with the answer, “Orange because it’s bright like my future.” Which he clearly answered correctly because he came through with the title of this year’s Mr. GPHS.

The competition was hosted by Emily Pfriem, Natalie Rassmusen, and Charlie Sevenants. The judges who brought the whole thing together were Mrs. Scott and Ms. Moon, Mr. Divito and Mr. Blair.
