The end of 2019 marks the end of a great year for the movie industry. Movies like Avengers: Endgame, Spiderman: Far From Home, and Toy Story broke records and set the bar high as the new standard of quality we expect from movies. There are live-action movie remakes from childhood classics and sequels to movies that were successful in the last few years to new action movies that has the internet hyped for the release date to come.

Sonic the Hedgehog is a highly anticipated movie as it is a live-remake to the popular videogame from the early 2000’s. The movie initially received a lot of backlash because the design of the character sonic was turned into a meme by sonic fans as they demanded a redesign of the beloved hedgehog. Months later the director Jeff Fowler released the trailer new character design for sonic and the fans were generally pleased.

Mulan is a live-action remake of the Disney classic initially released in 1998 and if you don’t know the plot of this movie it is based in China where Mulan’s sick dad is drafted into the army and in attempt to save her dad, Mulan sneaks out, pretends to be male (only men were allowed to fight in Chinese wars) and goes on to become a fierce warrior. The 1998 version was animated so it is a big switch to live-action.

Godzilla vs. Kong is technically a remake of the 1963 King Kong vs. Godzilla but with how much technology and the movie industry has advanced,  the 2020 remake will have better CGI and special effects. There will be a whole new level of intensity and surreal scenes. King Kong and Godzilla both had individual remakes in the last few years with Kong: Skull Island (2017) and Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019).
