Block Schedule vs Regular Schedule

Block+Schedule+vs+Regular+Schedule

As the sophomores have gone through rigorous SBA testing for the past couple weeks, we have had a different schedule that many people have started to become accustomed to. The block schedule includes 109-minute periods with only three classes a day. If you had to choose, would you keep the block schedule or would you stick to our regular school day? “I don’t like it because I get easily bored and procrastinate. You can have all your classes in one day and feel really drained at the end of the day,” Amelia Holst said.

“Block classes feel so long that I can’t focus by the end of the day and really want to take a nap. The day is so long and sometimes the classes are divided, so all my boring classes are in one day, making the day feel longer,” Hailee Sines also adds.

Many people did not like the block schedule for a multitude of reasons, but that does not mean that there were not any pros. “It’s a nice idea because there’s more time to go over the lesson and do homework,” Holst said.

“You get less work and can get away with working on homework for other classes,” Sines said.

But the people have spoken, and they love the regular schedule. The regular schedule is familiar, making the students more inclined to like it better. As well as the block schedule, regular scheduling has its pros and cons. “Sometimes classes have tests on the same day, so I could end up having three tests on the same day. At the same time drown in a lot of homework in all my classes,” Sines said.Regular schedule includes the variety of having six classes a day. Everything goes by fast and I get to see more friends than during block schedule,” Sines added.

Thus, it seems like more students have positive things to say about the regular schedule rather than the block schedule, meaning it is unlikely we would ever change to another schedule anytime soon.
