For this upcoming holiday, Students have been looking forward to this long-awaited break. Thanksgiving break is a time to spend the off days with friends and family, and some students are using this break to vacation, or visit family out of state. With Washington’s cold weather and gloomy skies, many students have taken this time to travel to warmer areas, those more tropical and sunny. While vacationing and lounging under the bright sun does seem ideal, some students have preferred to stay local and relax.
Tropical vacation spots such as Hawaii, and even the Dominican Republic have been popular among some students, “Being in Hawaii for Thanksgiving break is the most ideal thing for me right now, I’ve been needing the sun and to tan, and that’s so perfect here. I love everything here from the weather to the food, it’s so beautiful waking up on the beach and seeing the blue ocean and palm trees, I’ve never been happier,” Aiden Rapanan said.
On the other hand, some students have taken this break to go farther and travel to a different country, “I love the warm weather and beaches man but going out of the country without your family over for Thanksgiving is for sure a little weird, but I am so grateful for the chance to be here,” Landon Whitaker said.
Although many have decided to go on vacation, other students have felt differently, choosing to stay home and in the area for this holiday. While traveling is fun, many students have felt that leaving family and friends is not their typical way of spending their Thanksgiving, “I don’t like leaving for the holidays, I like staying in the comfort of my own home and being close to family,” Mashal Abbasi said. For the holidays, whether you choose to stay local or travel, Thanksgiving break is the perfect time for students to enjoy their holiday!
