With the 2018 year coming up, many rappers and other artists push to release their projects that they have been vigorously working on. Recently artists have been collaborating on albums and creating music that many didn’t expect. Producer Metro Boomin, working with rappers 21 Savage and Offset to created their album, “Without Warning”. Future and Young Thug collaborated to make their album, “SUPER SLIMEY”. What hasn’t been happening as often, is new solo albums by a single rapper. Jaden Smith, son of the actor Will Smith, has recently released his debut album, “Syre”.

Jaden is an artist in many different scenes. He is a painter, designer, a rapper, a huge inspiration in the fashion industry. He has clearly developed into a much different individual over the years, and expresses that through his choice of clothing, and now his music.

Syre is mainly a solo album, with only two features. A$AP Rocky is featured on “Breakfast”, and Raury is featured on “Falcon”. Every other song on the album only has Jaden on them. Jaden focuses greatly on being different in this collection of songs. Almost every beat used is futuristic or just different sounding in general. Most of the beats used are from rapper and producer Lido, who comes from Norway.

He touches on many subjects, some in which very controversial.  In his song “Hope” he says, “Look, Fahrenheit 451/Building seven wasn’t hit and there’s more **** to come/The Pentagon is on a run.” Jaden is taking many daring and groundbreaking leaps in the music industry.

“I really like how creative Jaden has become, especially on his video for Batman. The visuals are super cool and it flows. You can tell how he is always like himself and doesn’t portray himself different, even when he became more recognized,” Avery Bonny said.

“The albums songs all say something. All these new rappers talk a lot about girls and money and random stuff. Jaden’s music is something I can relate to a little more than others. The 808’s used in the beats are super nice too,” Dawson Allen said.

Jaden is still a developing rapper in the makes. A rapper of the millennial generation, you will be able to see him grow into style very different than the norm, something we’ve never really heard too much of.
