Micah Perron, the boy and girl tennis coach has announced his resignation last week to all his previous varsity tennis players. “I’ve recently taken a job at a tennis club down in Edmonds, between working for the district in the morning and working at the tennis club at night the only time I get to see my kid is when girl’s tennis would be starting,” Perron said.

His son just turned one and he is growing up fast according to Perron and Perron wants to be there for him. This was a big decision as he is the only tennis coach the school has ever had.

Even though he can’t fully commit to the girls this season, he will be volunteering as much as he can and him and he plans to bring his son to the girls matches. “It was very upsetting when I first found out. He’s been my coach since freshman year, but I respect his decision because family always comes first, and sometimes you have to make sacrifices and I know it wasn’t an easy decision for him,” Varsity player Lauren Hoopes said.

The new varsity and JV coach is undecided at the moment, and Mr. Judkins, the athletic director, said there is always more room for someone to apply to the job. Perron will be at the interviews to help choose the best coach for his varsity girls and the final decision will be announced in the next few weeks.

Tennis tryouts begin Monday, March 26.
