The girls swim and dive team went to state on Veterans Day weekend. Overall, the team placed in the top 50% with 67 points. The highlight of the weekend was distance swimmer, Alena Lehmann making it to the A final for the 200 freestyle; she ended up placing 7th with a time of 2:01.33.

Following this successful weekend, the team was incredibly pleased with how they performed at state. Sophomore Addison Farman was runner up in 1m diving with 339.55 points. Senior Isabella Hoopes was 9th seed going into the 200 IM, placing 2nd in the B final with a 2:16.70. “I was a little upset at first because I knew I could have done better to get myself into that 8th seed,” Hoopes said.

During the same event Keelie Sullivan was also in the B final and placed 7th with a 2:16.70.

The Lao siblings’ junior season has come to an end. Ellie and Lio both were in the 200 medley relay, with Ellie swimming butterfly and Lio swimming freestyle. Overall, the event ended with a time of 1:55.19 and placed 16th out of both finals. “I was really shocked about our final swim at districts, we all didn’t expect that we’d win, and we were really proud of ourselves. Prelims at state was a little bit of a harder swim but I was proud of myself because I swam faster than my finals swim,” Ellie said.

While the diving event was going on, freshman Claire Butler placed 5th with 312.40 points. Claire won over 50% of dual meet and got second at districts. On prelims day for swimming, Tiara Kim and Grace Hilgemann swam in the 200 free relay, achieving their personal best individual times. Tiara clocked 27.35 when she has never broken 28, as with Grace, who clocked 26.96. As the event ended, they finished the entire relay at 1:48.80.
