Seahawks 2023 Draft Class

Thursday Night began new start for the Seattle Seahawks as the 2023 draft commenced in Kansas City. Seattle had picks in the first (5&20), second (37&52), fourth (108&123), fifth (151&154), sixth (198), and seventh (237) rounds. With the 5th overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft the Seattle Seahawks selected Devon Witherspoon a cornerback out of the University of Illinois. Ranked the best cornerback in the draft, Seattle took him at five because of his competitive side and bruiser mentality.  Reminiscent of the “Legion of Boom,” the consensus First-Team All-American hopes to add to an emerging cast in Seattle’s secondary.

With the 20th overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft, The Hawks selected Jaxon Smith-Njigba, wide receiver from THE Ohio State University. The number one receiver in this draft class, JSN possess a vast list of strengths and grittiness. The 2022 Rose Bowl MVP can hunt down deep throws with accuracy, is smooth with his route running, and plays to his top speed through routes (according to NFL draft prospect tracker). Although he only played three games in 2022 due to a hamstring injury, he is expected to be a proficient wide receiver three along his fellow receivers DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.

The 37th overall pick presented the hawks with Auburn outside linebacker, Derick Hall. The first team all-SEC member has a Team captain persona with a whole lot of character. With gnarly strength and quick bursts in purist, Hall is projected to be a big-time starter for the Hawks.

The remaining 2023 Seattle Draftees are as follows:

  • Round 2, No. 52 Overall: RB Zach Charbonnet, UCLA
  • Round 4, No. 108 Overall: G Anthony Bradford, LSU
  • Round 4, No. 123 Overall: DT Cameron Young, Mississippi State
  • Round 5, No. 151 Overall: DE Mike Morris, Michigan
  • Round 5, No. 154 Overall: C Olusegun Oluwatimi, Michigan
  • Round 6, No. 198 Overall: S Jerrick Reed II, New Mexico
  • Round 7, No. 237 Overall: RB Kenny McIntosh, Georgia

Advent Seahawks fan Kabir Kinda shared his thoughts on the upcoming class of 2023. “I think this class will prove big in the next couple of years,” Kinda said.  “I’m excited to see what Jaxson can do as a part of our new wide receiver trio and in all it will be fun.” Overall, this draft class has been great for the Seahawks who are looking to make a deep playoff run in 2023. With last year’s draft class being one of the best in the league, 12’s across the world are hoping for some more glorious impact in the next coming seasons.
