February 14 is the day we draw a heart on our calendars. Although schools do not take this day off , commemorating this day of ‘love,’ happens before, during and after school is out.

Junior Josh Dusin has planned for this special day. “I don’t really consider this day a holiday, but more as a day where I can remind my girlfriend that I appreciate her. I’ll probably buy her flowers and chocolates, and maybe write her a note or something. In the evening I want to take her out for a nice dinner. I just want to show her how much I care,” he said.

Valentine’s Day reminds folks to appreciate those you love, whether it be a significant other, a family member, or even your friends.  “I love this holiday. It’s so fun to just hang out with my friends. We’ll watch chick-flicks and eat ice cream and none of us care that we don’t have boyfriends. It’s still super fun for us,” Jayden Dizard. said.

Others have different opinions on what the day means for them. “I’m not a big fan of Valentine’s Day,” Junior Jaxsen Sweum said. “To be honest, it’s kind of unfair to the people who aren’t in relationships. It’s not that I wish I had a girlfriend, I just don’t like the couples who go around bragging that they’re in relationships. Maybe that’s just me, though.”

Whether you are in a relationship, hanging out with friends, or doing nothing at all, Tuesday will be filled with chocolates, balloons and sugar highs in the hallways.
