There are very few of these type of students at our school. Most are well known but others are not. These students are children of teachers, and they all have a story to tell.
“One might think it is really weird and embarrassing to have their parents at school but most descendants of the teachers think it is really cool,” Nathan Peters said.
“Well one thing that is nice is that I have my permit so I can drive to school, because I have a parent in the car. It is also nice because for tennis, I can leave my stuff in his office. There aren’t really any cons, but I feel like it might be weird if like a friend of mine got in trouble or something, but other than that, I like it,” Peters said.
Mr. Hill’s daughter, Sydney, is a freshman here at GP. I asked her what she liked about having her dad at her school.
“He can get me places, and change my classes if I don’t like a class and if I need lunch money he can just be there and get it. But, the other part of it, if I get in trouble he’ll know right away,” Hill said.
Brayden Corwin, son of ASB teacher Mrs. Corwin, agrees with her.
“If I ever get in trouble she’s right there, like, I can’t really do anything. I can’t get out of it,” Corwin said.
Mrs. Green is the Publications teacher here at GP. Noah Stone is Mrs. Green’s son. He said one of the good things about having his mom as a teacher here is that he can print out anything he needs, in color too.
“She lets me print things put when I need to. That’s really nice,” Stone said.
There are many pros to having your parent as a teacher at your school apparently. But there is one con, if you get in trouble your mom or dad will know right away.
