As we know, our school police officer, Ish, left for the rest of this year to work on training for bomb squad. In the meantime, we have a new officer, Steve James Bond. Last week was his first few days at this school.
Our school has been pretty welcoming so far, without any struggles yet, letting Bond have some time to get to know the grounds and learn more about the GP environment. Though working in schools was not his initial thought for working in this field, we’re sure we can make it a great experience for him, so he remembers our school as the greatest.”My first week has been pretty uneventful, it seems pretty tame so far. I never thought I would be working in schools. It was never something that occurred to me that I would be doing, but it’s not a bad thing,” says Bond.
“I’ve been an officer for about seven years and really only wanted to become an officer a year before that. I think that I do a pretty good job of just being a neutral party and not getting too worked up, which feels like something that’s probably good in today’s model enforcement world. I used to want to be a detective, which I was one briefly; it was very stressful,” Bond said. If working in a high school seems crazy, try being a detective. After seven years of working experience, he knows how to stay calm, solve difficult problems, and whether it is hanging in the hallways or working on difficult tasks, we know we are in good hands with Bond. It’s not every day that we have a former detective working in our school, so embrace the opportunity to talk and chat it up with him whenever you get the chance.
“Ish is going to be coming back next year, so I’ll be going to either Snohomish or Mariner, supposedly. Wherever I go, I will probably stay there for a couple of years,” Bond said. Until then, we can enjoy every moment we have with him at our school, and hopefully, he leaves with only great memories of GP.
