This fall we welcome a new PE teacher. He is already a part of faculty here, so it’s a new spot in the school for Spanish teacher Dante Casagrande. This has been something he has been looking forward to for a while. “I will be joining the Health and PE department here at GP. I will be teaching Foundations, Health, Walk Fit, and Racquet Sports. I will also continue coaching the boys’ soccer team in the spring,” Casagrande said.
He is perfect for the job and already dresses for the part. Casagrande is often seen sporting Adidas track suits and matching shoes. He has thought of leaving Spanish for a while. Although he enjoys teaching it, it was time for a change. “I stopped teaching Spanish, for the first time, in 2017. I have always been a coach and part of the PE department at any school I have worked at (Five total/1 Ohio/3 Georgia/ now GP). I enjoyed teaching Spanish, and more so enjoy speaking it and reading it; but I needed to make the change again. Spanish is what brought me to GP, so I am very thankful for that. I have had a great time in the Spanish classroom here,” he said.
Casagrande is known as the soccer coach here and loves the community. He has a strong bond with his players and students. “I am most looking forward to the relationships that you get to develop when being active. I enjoy helping students find their motivation to stay active and healthy. The gym is such a fun and eclectic place. In every school I have worked at, it has always had a great spirit to it, and if I am being honest GP seems to be the best. One day I hope to be able to teach some of the outdoor based classes, but we will see. Maybe we can add disc golf too,” he said.
