Faculty member Bob Blair is cooking up a storm this summer with some delicious recipes. Previously, there was a story about Blair and Dante Casagrande’s barbeque portfolios. Their grilling prowess was on full display because they send each other photos of their creations. Blair has some BBQ plans lined up for the summer. “I’ve grilled a number of different things and I’m trying to master beef brisket. I also want to learn how to make beef ribs. This is going to be the summer of beef,” Blair said.
In past years Blair has chosen an area of growth in the kitchen and made themes similar to his “summer of beef.” Just last Thanksgiving he had a ‘Stardew Valley’ theme meal with many of the dishes that have been featured in the game.
Blair’s plans of mastering bread is a new kind of culinary adventure. He is planning to make a sourdough mother starter to pass down from generation to generation. “I’m going to make my sourdough mother starter next week and then I’m spending the whole summer learning to bake bread,” Blair said. Blair has always been very adventurous when it comes to food and loves sharing it with others. After he is done mastering bread, he plans to share it with his classes.
Between photo ops with his food, he keeps the visitors coming with his recipes. ” I usually grill every other weekend and have my family over to test my wares and give me input. At least three to four times a week. Pretty much Casagrande and I send pictures to each other anytime anything goes on the grill,” Blair said.
Now that school is almost over, and all of the seniors are gone, Blair has even more time since he does not have any students. He has the opportunities to test out the waters of the cooking and baking world.
