As the school year comes to an end, a yearly senior tradition springs among them, the Senior Barbeque, where the seniors come together and just enjoy each other’s presence in one place, which the senior class officers pick. The annual senior BBQ was more than just a picnic; it was the class of 2025’s celebration of everything their class had shared. From freshman orientation to graduating in less than a week. This Friday evening was about being able to soak up one of the final high school memories all together.
After school on Friday, May 23, the senior class officers planned the senior BBQ at Willis Tucker Park. The majority of the seniors rushed out of their sixth-period class to get to Willis Tucker, and many drove all together for a fun little drive. As cars filled the parking lot, stepping out of their cars, all that could be seen were the smiles among their peers. One by one, the park is taken over by the GP seniors.
There were volleyball nets set up, spike ball, and an undercover area nearby with all the food, drinks, and a grill to make some hot dogs and burgers. “The hot dogs were honestly good. I had one and I really liked it. PJ cooked it really well, and I loved having ketchup on it,” Taryn Valley said.
There were multiple selections of foods because many people chipped in to bring chips, drinks, or fruit. So many seniors were having the time of their lives playing spike ball or beach volleyball. A group would have varsity volleyball kids to kids who have never played volleyball in their lives. Despite that, they all had fun, helping each other out and cheering for both teams. “It was so fun to play, I played for like an hour straight, and it was a lot of fun. I enjoyed playing with my friends, and overall, the barbecue was amazing,” Tessa Mossburg said.
Overall, the BBQ went really well. Everyone who had been asked said they loved it and had a blast. This will definitely be something always remembered in the minds of the seniors.
