A Fresh Start

A+Fresh+Start

With the new upcoming semester starting soon, students are preparing for their new classes. A new semester gives students a fresh start in their classes and is a reset to all the grades. While some students get new schedules others have all their classes stay the same. “I only have 4 classes in total so basically all my classes/schedule stay the same,” Junior Julian Pena says.

Classes change depending on the electives students have chosen at the start of the school year. This allows kids to explore different interests and try out different hobbies in hopes of finding something they enjoy doing. Some end up not loving the class, but it still gives them a wider range of experiences.

The new semester also lets students who may not have done well in the first half, press the restart button and start a new one with no missing assignments. This helps students have the class with no pressure from previous mistakes or mishaps and sets them up to do better in the second half.

After studying and finishing finals, students are replacing their comp. Books and refreshing pens and pencils to get ready for the start of the new classes. “All my books were filled so it’s nice to have a new book, I just hope it will last me till the end of the year,” Pena said.

For some, the first semester marks their first completed semester of high school, while for others this is their high school years starting to come to an end at Glacier Peak. Either way, the start of 2nd semester is an exciting moment for all students, whether it be new classes with your friends or a new start to a class, “My 2nd semester of school has always been better than my first semester, to be honest,” Pena said.
