Now that the AP Tests are here, AP class-taking students are in preparation to get a good score. These tests take around 2 to 3 hours to complete and are split up into two parts; multiple choice and free response. The first section of multiple choice can take 55 minutes or more, depending on the class the students take. For example, AP World History test takers have 55 minutes to for the multiple choice section, however, AP Chemistry test takers have 90 minutes. “I’m really nervous for the AP Chemistry test that’s coming up really soon, I think what’s really going to mess me up is the multiple choice section. Even in class I really struggle with the things we learn, and now we have a whole 90 minutes to mess something up on the test. I’ll just keep studying and hope for the best,” Jason Kim said.
Preparing for the AP test is not necessarily challenging to do, it’s really only the anxiety that comes from thinking about the AP test that people get nervous about. Luckily this year, with the help of modern technology and applications, there are so many ways to study for the tests online. “I haven’t started to prepare for my AP tests quite yet, I’m taking both the US History and the Language and Composition tests. Other than reviewing past material, there are some really nice websites that I’m going to use to study. They have mock tests on the websites and lots of information on what to expect, and hopefully it’s going to prepare me enough for the real thing,” Mason Strasser said.
One of the most important aspects to taking the test other than studying is just being confident. Even though these tests can be scary, having confidence in yourself to do the best you can is what will push for the better score. “The AP World History test is going to be my first ever AP test I’m taking, and honestly I’m ready for it. I don’t want to waste any time on being nervous on the outcome, I’ll just stay focused and do the best I can and that will be enough,” Isabel Gacula said.
