As the school year comes to a close, students and teachers are eager to get their yearbooks and see what those random interviews and picture requests amounted to. “Distribution day is always one of the most fun days of the year, and I look forward to sharing the work student media has been doing all year,” Angelica Heimbigner said.
Angelica Heimbigner is one of two Editor-in-Chiefs of the student media staff, the other being Izzie Westlund. Along with the Editors in Chief, most of the staff members will be in the auxiliary gym where students will pick up their yearbooks. Each grade level will get an opportunity to get their book, starting with the seniors and working down to the freshmen. “There will be two or three staff members at a table that are organized by last name. When people who bought yearbooks find the table with their last name, they will have to sign next to their name to verify they got one,” Heimbigner said.
There are five color options: dark blue, pink, teal, purple, and yellow. “We’re expecting the more popular colors like dark blue and pink will go quickly, so it would definitely be a good idea to have a second choice. My personal favorite is the pink one with yellow accents,” Heimbigner said.
The yearbook distribution is a huge part of field day every year, but there is so much to get excited about. Clubs will be lining the hall near the commons with different games and food, all available to people who have the right number of tickets. “Because of the number of clubs participating, we don’t have enough cash boxes, so the cash comes through the adults, and all the booths have to do is handle the tickets,” ASB teacher Teri Corwin said.
Each ticket is one dollar and will be available in the bookkeeping office.
One of the clubs participating is the Theater Club. “Theater Club will be selling Krispy Kreme donuts, and it costs two tickets per donut,” club member Matthew Herrick said.
Another club that is participating is the dance team. “We’ll be selling pretzels and corndogs tomorrow, which are the same ones served in the concessions during games. I believe each item will be two tickets,” dance team co-captain Akshaya Badveeti said.
Along with these two clubs, there will be many others like Link Crew, Black Student Union, Chinese Club, and more, who will be selling a multitude of items throughout the course of field day.
