On Sunday, Feb. 5, the 65th Grammy Awards took place in Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. This night was filled with many historic and memorable moments in the Grammys timeline. Beyonce made history by being the now-most decorated Grammy winner of all time with 32 Grammy wins. She was nominated for nine Grammys and won three at the award show, including winning Best Dance/Electric Recording for her song Break my Soul, and Best Dance/Electronic Music Album for her album Renaissance.

Harry Styles was nominated for six awards at the 65th Grammy Awards. Despite One Direction having never won a Grammy, Harry Styles has won three Grammys as a solo artist. His album Harry’s House won both album of the year and Best Pop Album of the Year.

Taylor Swift attended the Grammy awards and had a phenomenal night as she was nominated for four awards: she won Best Music Video of the Year for All Too Well (10 Minute version). For Song of The Year, Bonnie Raitt’s Just Like That won the Grammy. Adele won Pop Solo Performance for her song Easy on Me.

Sam Smith and Kim Petras later performed their song Unholy; they won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Smith, a four-time Grammy winner, became the first nonbinary artist to win the award, while Petras, a first-time Grammy nominee, became the first openly transgender woman to win. In her speech after Smith and Petras performance, Madonna urged troublemakers to be themselves and that their fearlessness does not go unnoticed, praising the duo as a prime example.

Among the rappers nominated for Grammy Awards in 2023, Kendrick Lamar holds the diamond-encrusted crown for the most nominations as he earned a total of eight, including Song of the Year and Best Music Video for “The Heart Part 5” and Album of the Year and Best Rap Album for Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. Kendrick Lamar thanked “the culture” for allowing him to “evolve” and create his fifth studio album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers.
