Before spring break, a two-question quiz was opened for all sophomores to vote for their ASB officers and senators. You may be wondering who ended up getting the positions and what their plans for this upcoming school year are. In total, there are four officers, nine senators, two judicial, and one appointed senator seats available for the junior class.
The junior class officers include Dominic Cerdenola, Isabella Leffingwell, Marcy Mossburg, and Aaron Thomas. I interviewed the officers about their goals for next year and why they were interested in being junior class officers, so you can better understand who you voted for.
Dominic Cerdenola
“As a representative of the 2027 class, this year I am focusing on strengthening the community and specifically building up the voices of every student. I want to include the entirety of the student body in the conversations we have in ASB, so I am going to work on being a student voice in the decision-making process and represent all groups. I love helping our community and making GP the best it can be. That’s why I run every year to be a class officer, and thankfully, I have been given the opportunity to serve once again, thanks to the Class of 2027,” Cerdenola said.
Isabella Leffingwell
“It has truly been an honor to be the 2027 class officer two years in a row. I wanted to become an officer to make GP a place people want to be. I want people to get excited to wake up every morning. My plans for this next year as an officer are to plan and execute as many enriching class events as possible. I’ve strengthened my leadership skills, especially over the summer at leadership camp. Community is so important, and I hope to build the Class of 2027 to our fullest potential,” Leffingwell said.
Marcy Mossburg
“My main goal as a junior class officer is to advertise inclusion. I want each student to feel they can be a part of any activity they would like, inclusion should be something all kinds of students enjoy. I wanted to become an officer because I love to help my peers create events, and fun ways to go about school is something I want, and I hope to give it to our students as well,” Mossberg said.
Aaron Thomas
“My goal is to have everyone feel included, also showing everyone how hard work really sets them ahead in life. I wanted to make a difference upon my peers, a friend anyone can turn to and talk to, and have a leadership role to positively impact the people around me, stay true to yourself,” Thomas said.
The 9 appointed senators include Mya Davis, Cameron Erdmann, Sawyer Goff, Reagan Harrod, Joyce Lee, Olivia Robbins, Arleen Segura, Josiah Sim, and Sazika Suraj. The judicial branch includes Alina Moskalenko and Bella Edmonds.
