T Hawk performed at the arts assembly, doing a cover of “Everlong” By Foo Fighters. T Hawk is made of Zackary Lake on Bass and Vocals, Bradley Hormer on Guitar, Alex Hirano-Holcomb on drums, and Kelan Emrick also on guitar.
How did the band come together?
Zack: “Most of us are like we already had another kind of band going on, except we incited Bradley because we had a 20-year-old guitarist who couldn’t make it. And Bradley had come and jammed with us before, so we asked him if he wanted to play with us.
How did you come up with the band name “T Hawk”?
Zack: “That was last minute. I thought of the drummer from the Foo Fighters who died. Taylor Hawkins and I just abbreviated it.
Do we expect another performance from this group?
Zack: “Maybe, but it’d probably be with different people. I don’t know. I think when we came up with our name, that was gonna be like a temporary type of thing.”
Who is your main inspiration for your music?
Alex: “Yeah, everyone likes J-Pop.”
Bradley: “I have to say, Lil B the bass god or Pewdiepie.”
Would you like to pursue music as your career?
Bradley: “I have no clue what else I would do with my life.”
Alex: “Probably like a gigging drummer or like homeless”
Zack: “Well, honestly. I don’t wanna go into it for a career, but it’s something I’m not gonna give up, for sure. It’s probably my favorite thing in the world right now, so. The only reason why I’m living right now.”
How long have you all been playing?
Bradley: “Since the seventh grade.”
Alex: “Drumming for seven years, bass for three.”
Kelan: “Guitar for nine years.”
Zack: “I think I’ve been drumming for eight years, maybe.”
If you had to recommend an album, what would it be?
Bradley: “Unwound self-titled because Unwound is an amazing band from Washington, and they don’t get enough recognition, and they were very hardcore.”
Kelan: “Ziltoid the Omniscient [by Devin Townsend].”
Zack: “I gotta be honest, probably Dirt by Alice in Chains.”
Alex: “I’d have to go with Casiopea 1985.”
How did you guys feel when you went up on stage during the Arts assembly?
Zack: “Talking to all these guys, we were pretty nervous. I think all of us were confident with what we were doing, but like I could totally tell we were all nervous.”
Bradley: “I was only anxious when I was anticipating the performance, but the second I got on stage. All my nerves chilled out really fast.”
Any final thoughts?
Bradley: “Man, I sure love Glacier Peak, I sure love this school. I sure love the reaction to our amazing performance, and I love all my friends and my family.”
Zack: “I don’t know where we’re really gonna be, but we got asked to do like a thing at Snohomish High for like their senior cruise.”
Bradley: “Watch out for our dubstep project, which is going to be with techno and rap, the greatest turn in music history.
Kelan: “I’m starting a solo ska band. I play the trumpet and the guitar.”
