“I spoke during the senior debate on the topic of ‘who has it better in America: boys or girls?’ and the reason I spoke was because I felt like there was a lot of repetition of points, and I wanted to combat it with a topic that not enough people are talking about. This is an important issue, the fact that many Native American women are being stolen away on reservations, and there are no searches for them. I just think that because it’s something people seem to forget or even worse, don’t even know exists, it’s important to kind of throw it out there. Getting people to talk about it and thinking about it was the ultimate goal,” Ledford said.
