Recently the game that has been topping  the charts is Fortnite, produced by the company Epic Games. This game has three different game modes, solo (one player), duo (two player), and squads (four player). It is a free to download on most gaming consoles, including the PC.

The game begins by choosing which area on the map you want to land. Once you’ve landed, you begin to move around the map and find items to survive. For example a player looks for guns, shields, bandages, med kits, and more.

The game begins with 100 different players and the goal is to survive and have you or your team be the last team left in the game. The game records the amount of kills you get in each game as well to show you how well you played.

Fortnite is a competitive game and frustrates players who don’t win. “When I get second place, I want to smash my Xbox,” freshman Jacob Fey said.  When a player wins, they feel  it calls for celebration.

“One time I got 20 kills in one game and took the dub, it was awesome!” Fey said. Because Fortnite is an online game, players like to play in teams. “I love playing Fortnite with my friends. Fortnite is a brotherhood,” Daxton Jenson said.

Like all games Fortnite comes with its flaws as well, “The server speed could use some work, because there’s so many players the server software sometimes can’t handle it and there’s quite a few lags,” Trevor Meldrom said. Overall, since Fortnite came out in July of 2017, it has gone crazy with popularity and the game is slowly updating and adding new features and improvements.
