Baseball+Seniors+Prepare+for+new+Beginnings

As the baseball season begins the class of 2024 starts their final high school season, some of our seniors have plans of playing in college and some have that asperation, but they all will say goodbye to GP baseball this year.

Karsten Sweum is committed to play for gonzaga next year and has been in the program all of his high school career, “The past four years in the program have been unforgettable, whether it is doing field clean up, eating with the guys, or batting in the tenth inning I always feel at home in the GP program. Sweum said. Sweum has been considered a leader and a captain by the team for a few years now “I am for sure going too miss my brothers, I have created some great relationships with my teammates and coaches that will last a lifetime” Sweum said.

Gavin Gardner is uncommitted as of now, but loves the game of baseball and hopes to play it at the next level, “my favorite GP memory was the mosh pit after my walk off hit against meadowdale” Gardner said. Gardner isn’t all about hitting heroics as he has learned from our coaching staff as well “I have learned how to take useful information with a grain of salt. Using what I know works for me and not using the stuff that won’t, whether that is in the classroom or on the field” Gardner said.

Jude Kromer another college committed player (Northland College) has been catching for GP during his time here and has learned a few things “Change is going to happen so don’t let it catch you off guard” Kromer said. In his senior season he wants the most he can get, “I just want to be able to enjoy it and end my high school career with a bang” Kromer said.

Bode Stevenson has spent the last three seasons as the varsity shortstop, “It’s meant a lot to me because I feel like it is a big accomplishment for all the hard work that I have put in” Stevenson said. all though he wants to have a good season for himself, Bode has his eyes on the prize this season, “I hope that we make it pretty far this year as a team because I really do feel like this is our best year yet, everyone has a lot of grit and all want to win together” Stevenson said.
