The varsity Softball team was officially labeled ‘Wesco Champs’ after winning their last conference game against Arlington High School on May 6, making their ending record 14-5. Morgan Udy and Bri Titus both hit a home run in the last game, contributing to their victory in their final game, which qualified them to go to state.
“Qualifying for state was exciting. The final game was the outcome we wanted; we played hard and did not give up, and our energy was high. We hit the ball amazingly, having 2 home runs the last game and having great line drives and base hits. Going to state is our chance to show everyone what we’re made of and make memories together that we will never forget,” Udy said. This will be their third time going to state in a row.
Senior pitcher and team captain, Emma Hirshorn, threw 108 batters and 370 pitches in three games while at state. “I was super optimistic about the season going into it, we had a really good team, and there was a lot of competition. It was a really good time. In the end, I think we came together really well, and everyone had a ton of fun, which I think is super important. My favorite game definitely would be when we beat Snohomish High School the second time. We came back and kicked their butts after their team wasn’t very nice to us, but we showed them. State was super lit, we beat the heck out of Yelm, and the team that we lost to got third place. With one home run from Aubree Orr, the girls took ninth place at state. “Our final game was a great game, and we had a lot of fun. We really came together as a team, and I’m really going to miss a lot of the underclassmen,” Hirshorn said.
