A Night of Monologues

January 20, 2016
Mr. Toews second and sixth period acting classes produced their own monologues, acted and read to the audience in PAC on January 19th. Their performances were between 2-3 minutes each and hit on some sensitive topics. The audience laughed and cheered for the nervous students, even when they forgot the words. “I am really proud of my students, their courage, overcoming the fear of public speaking, and I give applause for them putting up with me,” Toews said. Michael Menchaca is a student of Toews and received many compliments for his performance. “I had to go first and this was my first time on stage ever,” he said. The performance was well received by the audience and Toews plans to continue with another night of monologues next year.

Thinking back on this night everyone really was nervous it was almost everyone’s first public performance but this is what we had worked for, and we weren’t going to give up easily. Even when one of our classmates forgot their line and had to walk back to their spot they still came back at the end and delivered a wonderful performance.
