Since 8th grade Boy Scout camp, junior Aidan Huck has been into rifles. Starting with 4H, he participated in shooting matches which then led to him joining teams. Huck is now a part of the Precision Rifle Team and has joined JROTC through the school. He has become very competitive in the sport, placing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in competitions and finishing 26 out of 74 at Regionals in Provo, Utah over winter break. Shooting is not something that Aidan was aware of before Boy Scouts, but now he is proud to be involved with such a unique sport. “Managing my time gets hard with practices every day, but just like any other sport, you have to put in time to get better,” Huck said.

Huck’s parents are supportive of him and after seeing the time he puts in, they are encouraging him to apply for scholarships in relation to his sport.

Even though he is a junior, Huck is looking at joining the University of Alaska Fairbanks Rifle Team after graduation. One day he hopes to make it as far as the Olympics, but for now he is planning on attending the USA Shootings National Junior Olympic Championships at Colorado Springs this April.
