Looking through the paint on each artist’s door, there is a photo of an influential person. These photos are projected on all the art doors that line the halls, but only the artist can tell the story behind them. Dana Kelley one of the artists didn’t want to paint her door because of how time consuming it seemed, but in the end she said it’s all worth it. When asked to choose a meaning full person in her life, she picked her grandparents.

“I’m kind of drawing a fairytale of how my grandparents met because Tina, my grandmother was really high class, and Bob, my grandfather was a young, normal guy. Every week Bob came up to visit her by plane because she was in San Francisco and he was in Los Angeles. Bob had trouble paying for the expensive trips back and forth, and he was getting tired of all the flying so he asked Tina to marry him.”

She search for a while for a meaningful photo that conveyed their relationship, the later years because she said at first, she didn’t think her grandfather was all that serious.

“The entire time she didn’t really like him, she just thought he was an average guy, but soon found out how young he really was and learned to love him. Bob was in his twenty’s and Tina was in her thirty’s when the two finally got married,” Dana said.

Once she found the photo for her painting, it brought back the memory of the story of their courtship. Whether it’s the memories that are secured in a photo or hidden behind a door, there is sure to be one uncovered by every artist.
