Living just 35 minutes outside the city, Seattle is a place a lot of students like to go for the day. When you head to Pike Place, downtown, or Capitol Hill when playing tourist in the city, you are going to want to eat.  Who wants to pay the expensive prices of tourist traps? Here are a few good quality cheap eats.

Dough Zone – Westlake

Similar to Din Tai Fung, but way cheaper. Dough Zone allows reservations and has speedy service. Being twentieth in line is no big deal because it only takes about 30 minutes to be seated. Food ranges from all sorts of dumplings, bao, veggies, noodles, soups and an array of appetizers. The food is reasonably priced. Boiled, steamed, and pan-fried dumplings range from $4.95-$8.95. Soup dumplings cost a bit more, averaging $11.95, but are worth every bite. Appetizers range from $3.95-$5.95. You will leave Dough Zone with not only a happy stomach, but a happy wallet.

Carmelo’s Tacos – Capitol Hill

Looks can be deceiving when it comes to Carmelo’s. Located next to a convenient store in Capitol Hill, Carmelo’s is a hole in the wall taco shop with delicious eats. They have great tacos, burritos, quesadillas and much more. Street tacos are a big hit. For a street taco it is $2.65, they are freshly house made tortillas topped with your choice of meat or veggies, served with cilantro, onion, green salsa and red salsa.  Burritos are large and $8.50 each, your choice of meat or veggies wrapped in a flour tortilla and filled with pinto beans, rice, cheese, onion, cilantro, green salsa and a side of red salsa. Carmelo’s will leave you with a full stomach and a great mind set.

Hot Mama’s Pizza – Capitol Hill

Hot Mama’s is a great place to stop in and grab a quick bite to eat. You can order your pizza three different ways, 14”, 18”, or by the slice, which is most common. Pricing ranges from $2.68 to $3.00. There are many options like  classic cheese, pepperoni, and Hawaiian. They also offer more options such as pesto, Greek, house veggie, and garlic chicken. Each slice is about the size of a Costco pizza slice. You are served when you order and will not be disappointed with the quality of this pizza.
