Marvel Madness

As time grows shorter the closer we get to Friday, May 6, anticipation for this long-awaited movie skyrockets. Throughout the wait, Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness has continuously gained exposure with fans speaking out about their excitement. (Not to mention theories surrounding featured characters and villain arcs from past heroes.) Fans speculate how Marvel will move forward after the major events that occurred in the most recent movie release, Spider-Man: No Way Home.

“I’m just looking forward to seeing how they’re going to pick up after No Way Home because now Strange doesn’t know why he cannot remember what happened. I am excited to see how Wanda fits into all of that, as well.” Bobbi Jack said.

As with any Marvel release, the actors go on their routine press tour with castmates to be interviewed with questions about the movie before it comes out. Fans look forward to this part of the suspense so that they can grab at any small hints the actors will give them about what they can expect. In particular, an interview with Elizabeth Olsen, playing the role of Wanda Maximoff, where she hints at a change in her character that will come out in the upcoming film.  “I think we’re in this space with her finally having this confidence of being the Scarlet Witch and fulfilling her destiny of being this Scarlet Witch, this mythic character. And so, there’s a new sense of ownership of what she does in a way,” Elizabeth Olsen said.

There are many elements to a Marvel movie release including excitement, dread, and stalking updates. This cycle of predictions and anticipation is no different for Doctor Strange 2, with fans going to their trusted sources. Because Marvel has such a large fan base, it does not take long for word to get around, making it easy for people to be brought up to speed. However, this is also the common cause of miscommunication and inaccurate information being spread around, which is a frequent issue Marvel watchers deal with.

“I always go to Instagram and stalk people’s predictions from stan accounts or fan accounts. I also go on the actors’ socials and just constantly reload their pages in case they leak anything. Sometimes it is hard to discern what’s real and what’s fake, though, so I take the information with a grain of salt,” Gracie Botten said.
