“Gym Bros” are starting to get concerned over the influx of people joining their gyms. As the year comes to an end, people are starting to plan their New Year’s resolutions, and using the term, “New Year New Me.” People use this as an excuse to start being active and going to the gym, however it rarely lasts more than two months. Only 9% of people successfully stick with their resolutions. Whether you want to save money, get fit, or get into a healthy mindset, it’s all the same.

You go into the gym hoping to hit a good leg day, but there are dozens of people hogging the benches and squat racks and nothing you need to use is available. “One time I was at the gym trying to use a machine and there was a guy next to me stretching and when I went to use it, he complained that he was using it,” said Trevor Butler.

Since lifting and working out have become very popular this past year, the number of people making these resolutions is going to be tremendous. “I think that I respect the hustle, but I also don’t enjoy that they’ll only be there for a week, and they’re just going to fill up the gyms and make my experience annoying knowing that they won’t stick around,” Emilio Peña says.

However, if you are someone who plans to start genuinely hitting the gym this new year, here are some ways that you can stick with it. First, do your research; this can be from YouTube or even better, TikTok. TikTok has more than 1,000 creators that are fitness based and can give helpful advice. Next, you want to find somewhere that you feel comfortable working out, and not somewhere you will stand in a corner because you either don’t know what to do or are just scared to do anything. Lastly, the most necessary step is to just go. You can’t start anything unless you just go. The most important thing is to give it a try and have fun, but be respectful to everyone else as well as the gym.
