As the school year draws to a close, students are gearing up for the annual standardized testing season. With the upcoming SBA tests fast approaching, many students are feeling nervous and anxious about what lies ahead.

But there’s no need to panic. Teachers and administrators are working hard to prepare our students for these tests and ensure that they have the tools and knowledge they need to succeed. And there are also several things that students can do on their own to help alleviate their anxiety and approach the testing period with confidence.

First and foremost, students should make sure that they are getting plenty of rest in the days leading up to the tests. This means aiming for at least eight hours of sleep each night and avoiding caffeine and other stimulants that can disrupt their sleep patterns. It’s also important for students to eat a healthy breakfast on the day of the test, as this can help to improve their focus and concentration.

Additionally, students should try to approach the tests with a positive mindset. Instead of focusing on their fears or doubts, they should remind themselves of their strengths and the hard work they have put in throughout the school year. Taking deep breaths and practicing relaxation techniques can also help to reduce feelings of nervousness and anxiety. “I think the SBA test is really stressful especially for people who take like honors or AP classes because now they have the stress of both their advanced classes and the SBA test,” says sophomore Afshan Munawar. “Some way I help myself destress is by doing things I like or napping.”

For the classes that aren’t taking the SBA or any AP tests, they should be respectful to those who are taking the test, remaining quiet in the hallways while tests are taking place.

Of course, it’s important for students to remember why these tests are so important. SBA tests are designed to measure students’ mastery of key academic skills and provide valuable information to teachers and parents about their progress. They also play a role in determining the school’s overall performance and can help to identify areas where improvements are needed. So as our students prepare for the upcoming SBA tests, we encourage them to stay focused, stay positive, and remember the hard work they have put in all year. With the right mindset and preparation, we are confident that they will do great on these important exams.
