Washington Tulip Festival

Washington+Tulip+Festival

The annual Tulip Festival has returned this spring, inviting hundreds of Washingtonians back to their blooming fields. Every year at the start of April, the tulip fields are opened in Skagit Valley, Mount Vernon. The flowers are grown in rows of individual, beautiful colors, perfect for taking pictures or just to admire. This flowery festival lasts only until the end of the month, often making this a key spring destination for families or friends. “My family goes every year, it’s kind of a tradition we have. We love to look at the tulips and walk around when it’s sunny and a beautiful day out” Jasmine Jacobo said.

As well as families, many teenagers are caught traveling north to take pictures with the different hues of tulips. Their fields are often thought to be a perfect backdrop for Instagram posts or just to have in one’s camera roll. The simple beauty makes one’s feed pop with color and character while also rewarding a good time with people you love. “It’s easy to find places to take pictures because it’s so colorful there. And it’s easy to dress up and coordinate your outfits to match the flowers” Samia Bounanni said.

Although the tulips fields are open for only one month of the year, many people still put it on their list as a place needed to visit year and year again. The long drive is less dreaded, and more filled with the excitement of seeing the flowers. With many different types of fields, people get to pick and choose which one to visit. Some fields have games while others allow you to walk around and admire nature. The festival is sure to include activities that attract many groups, children or adults. Yet no matter which one you go to; each field offers a different experience and shows off the beautiful Washington tulips.
