Parking at Glacier Peak has always been a hot topic. So hot that the school district re-painted the parking lot to add more spots for students. With so many students and a lack of parking spots a majority of juniors and sophomore park on the other side of Cathcart at Willis Tucker Park and walk about ten minutes to first period.

This school year, there has been a change in the highly praised parking passes. They were printed on card stock instead of a high quality glossy paper. Due to this change in material, many of them have been ripped, making it impossible to hang on a rear view mirror. This being said, multiple students have forgotten to put up there passes, causing them to get a pink slip on their windshield. This paper is a $15 parking ticket. With less than 20 days of school left for seniors, they are getting lazy. The security officer on campus, Darlean, is out in the parking lot daily checking up on cars.

Darlean has a tough job with the responsibility of keeping almost 2,000 kids safe. Darlean says that visibly displaying your pass is very important.

“Tape it, remind yourself or do whatever you have to keep your pass out” Darlean said.

Having a a car without a pass could be alarming to her and school safety if it were seen multiple days in a row. So do her a favor and take 5 seconds to put out your pass if you have not already.
