“I like art and I like oil painting; landscapes are very fun. I love painting nature but with a couple human elements like a bench in a park. There is a studio I like to go to in my friend’s garage. Most the time we are working on our own thing and there are sometimes other people there too. Currently, my favorite piece of art is the one in the photo. It’s not complete, but it’s almost there and I took the reference picture myself on a two-week backpacking trip in the mountains of Cimarron, New Mexico, at the 200+ acre property of Philmont Scout Ranch. The day I took it was our last full day on the trail, and we were barely 2 miles away from the campsite. I thought it was really beautiful, and when we stopped there for a rest, I took the pic. This is the kind of scenery we had all around, unless we were above the tree line, and I thought that this showed the kind of natural beauty that’s hard to find both in a city-ish place like where we are, and in the PNW, where the greenery is entirely different than NM.”
