If- You have to Believe to See

If- You have to Believe to See

John Krasinski is the writer, producer, and director of the forthcoming American live-action/animated fantasy comedy film IF. The film’s ensemble cast includes Cailey Fleming, Ryan Reynolds, Krasinski, Fiona Shaw, Alan Kim, and Liza Colón-Zayas, as well as Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Louis Gossett Jr., and Steve Carell. The narrative revolves around a little girl and her neighbor who discover they have the ability to perceive imaginary pals.

IF will be released on May 17, 2024, according to Deadline. Prior to this change, the picture was scheduled to be released a week later on the 24th, but it was moved ahead a week so that people may enjoy it sooner – also to avoid a crowded weekend of Memorial Day movies. The last trailer for IF was released in April 2024, and it follows our group of characters on a wonderful voyage. It demonstrates how the imaginary pals are forgotten when their children grow up, so today, they all join together under a new house to create a matchmaking service to meet new youngsters – or else they vanish.

With the initial announcement of IF in October 2019, it was confirmed that Ryan Reynolds and John Krasinski would star in the film, with Krasinski directing and writing the script, but there are several other stars confirmed for IF. In fact, the IF cast is practically star-studded. Since his successful nine-season run on The Office, John Krasinski has worked hard to diversify his portfolio with strong lead roles in projects like Michael Bay’s gritty war film 13 Hours and his titular role in Prime Video’s hit Jack Ryan series, but his most impressive accomplishment has been his transition into directing. Krasinki had previously directed the comedy-drama picture The Hollars and adapted David Foster Wallace’s Brief Interviews with Hideous Men for the big screen, but it was 2018’s smash success A Quiet Place that catapulted him to the top tier of directors working in Hollywood today. The unparalleled popularity of the sci-fi horror picture has already produced a sequel, with many spin-offs in preparation, and resulted in Krasinki signing a first-look contract with Paramount.

IF could hardly be more different from the popular horror franchise. The family comedy, starring Ryan Reynolds (who also produced with Krasinski) and Cailey Fleming (The Walking Dead, Loki, Star Wars: Episode VII), follows Bea, a young girl who, after going through a difficult time, begins to see everyone’s imaginary friends — or IFs — who have been left behind after their real-life friends grew up. Reynolds’ character, known as the Man Upstairs, is the only other person who can see all of the IFs, so the two work together to try to help the IFs by pairing them with new youngsters… which may or may not be successful.
