Bridgerton+Season+3+Part+one+Review

On May 16, Netflix released four episodes of Bridgerton Season Three. It has been two years since the last season was aired and there’s still more to come. Part two of Season Three is said to be released on June 13 and that will wrap up the cliffhanger they left us on.

Bridgerton is a series that follows each member of the Bridgerton family go through the courting process. It began as a book series with 8 books for each kid. The past two seasons have been about the eldest, Anthony and the oldest girl, Daphne. Through both of those seasons we have seen the other siblings too. In total there is eight: Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory and Hyacinth. Eloise is one of the bigger characters, she is all about females’ equal rights to think and behave as they’d like. Her best friend, Penelope Featherington mainly agrees with her, but Penelope finds pleasure in gossip. The Bridgerton’s are all very close with Penelope, Colin in fact has been her long-time crush since they were both very young.

Recently, though, Penelope has gotten herself into some trouble because of her gossip-loving trait. Season one introduces Lady Whistledown, a gossip column that outs everyone and everything, including the queen. We soon learn that the writer of this column is in fact Penelope. When her best friend Eloise finds out, it completely ruins their friendship. After their big fight Penelope runs out and hears her lifelong crush, Colin, say that he would never dream about courting her. Its where her story line ended from Season Two and its all we know going into Season Three.

I think these two are one of the cutest couples so far. With only four episodes released its hard to tell how they’re going to handle the whole Whistledown issue or how Eloise is going to take to them being together. But I was glad to see Colin clean up his act from last season and apologize to Penelope for what he said to her. Also Penelope absolutely shined this season, with her new dresses and more flattering hairstyles, she looks so gorgeous and it’s a beautiful look on her.

A lot of people were very excited for this season based on the books and seeing a bigger actress portrayed as the main love interest, and they did not disappoint. Many scenes where very similar to the book, they kept the good ones and lost the bad ones. The biggest critique that has been talked of is the fast paced speed of it all. In only four episodes, the two are engaged and not a lot of plot was developed before, but I think there are two reasons for this. Unlike the last two seasons, these two have known each other for years, its not a new relationship entirely so combined with the other two seasons, it puts their relationship in some perspective. Not only that but this season has a lot of issues to address, even in the book they got together early on. It is what’s coming next that will really expand and deepen their relationship. June 13 is the release date for part two and many eager watchers are waiting to see what these two will get up to.

Bridgerton is TV-MA.
