Every Grizzly Period senior Niko Gavino plays basketball with the life skills students. “I love playing with the kids,” Gavino said. “It’s a great way to spend time during Grizzly Period. It is way better than anything else I could do.”

As president of Unified Sports he spends over an hour and thirty minutes every week sending emails, helping with paper work, and setting up practices.

“Niko is a very approachable person. He listens to everyone and gets everything he needs done. He’s a great for the club because he’s not bossy and tries to make everything really easy. It’s really fun to watch how last year Niko went from I’m being a good person, to they are my peers and friends. It’s really powerful for them,” Mrs. Miller said.

During Grizzly Period Project Unify runs drills and plays scrimmages. Even though this is a new club that started in the middle of last year, it is gaining in popularity at every practice. “I love Project Unified because I get to be a part of it and all the people there are very nice. Niko is also very nice and he throws the ball really far,” Ahmed Shebl said. Niko’s positive effort does not go unnoticed for those who come to play.
