Future released his album EVOL on February 6, 2016. However, the album premiered on DJ Khaled’s We the Best Radio station on February 5. EVOL was released after Future’s mixtape Purple Reign was  released 3 weeks prior. The album follows the genre of hip hop and trap which is consistent amongst his albums.

On February 3, Future shocked all of his fans on Twitter. “Sh!t bout to get real in a few hrs” he posted. Almost 3 hours after the posting, he revealed the album cover and name on Twitter. He also revealed the track list and what EVOL stands for. “Love backwards #EVOL” he posted.

The album opens with “Ain’t No Time” which alludes to his love for money and nice items. The opening song represents how music has helped Future become rich and how he enjoys to “play with the cash, go to Chanel and spaz.” A majority of the music on this album allude to his lavish lifestyle.

The album has one collaboration on it named “Low Life” featuring The Weeknd. “Low Life” was released on December 25th via Soundcloud.  Despite the realease months earlier, Future included this track on the album. Several listeners have commented  that this song is the highlight. Similar to Future, The Weeknd surprised his fans by posting “something is coming” on Twitter. Almost 7 hours later, the collaboration was released.

EVOL is sitting at number 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. This marks his third album to shoot up to number 1 within weeks of release. According to Nielsen Music, the album sold the equivalent of 134,000 copies including streams and downloads in the week ending February 11.  One hundred thousand of those copies were pure album sales.

The Atlanta rapper continues dropping new music left and right. Although 2016 has just started,  he has already dropped a mixtape and an album whose sales are great. “I get better and better with time, don’t I?” he raps in his song Maybach. Last year for him musically was spectacular and you can hear how good he feels about that in EVOL.
