Two of the top video games out right now battling for that #1 spot, but which one is better?

Fortnite, a free PvP (Player vs. Player) action game available on Xbox, Playstation 4, and PC that was released back in July 2017 but recently become really popular. This game has three different game modes, Solo, Duos, and Squads, where you and your friends can team up and try and survive till your the last team standing and get that “Victory Royal”. The game starts out with a bus in the sky floating over a map where you and 100 other players jump out and land a location on the map and begin to gather resources. Players look for guns, shields, bandages, and materials to help them make it to the end. Throughout the game a “Storm” comes which causes damage to your player until you get out of it, the storm is there to push players toward one another and make the game more intense. Throughout the game you are told how many kills you have and also how well you preformed.

“Its a brotherhood. You can go into a room where people are playing Fortnite, and no mater the beef or what’s going on personally in your guys lives, you can grind and when all your hard work pays off and you get that “Victory Royale” its one of the best feelings in the world. The entire room gets hyped up as everyone begins getting up hugging one another congratulating them on the win, sometimes tears are even shed. When you walk out of the room all the beef is gone and you’ve bonded. I know that I have personally been playing Fortnite with people I’m not the best of friends with and I’ve bonded with them so much and I can say that because of Fortnite, I have created lasting bonds with some people. I leave you with how I started, its a brotherhood,” Reese Dhondt said.

PlayerUnknown’s Battleground (PUBG), is also a PvP action game available on the same consoles including PC but it cost $29.99 to play the game. The gameplay is very similar to Fortnite but its a lot more realistic, instead of a floating bus you jump out of a plane and parachute down and gather items to help yourself or your team. But you can’t mine materials to build bases and things like in Fortnite. If you are looking for more of a realists battle royal type game then PUBG might be the game for you.

“I like PUBG more cause of how realistic it is compared to Fortnite, I don’t like the idea of building objects, I just like going out there and killing people and hoping my squad gets the win in the end,” Coleman Johnson said.

Personally I think Fortnite is better, I like the idea of being able to gather materials to build things and the map layout is really nice. Also having the game free on all consoles including PC makes it fun because I can play with my friends without them worrying about having to buy the game to play it. I haven’t had the opportunity to play PUBG but I would really like to so I can see how much difference there really is between the two games.
