PDA in School - How Do You Really Feel?

PDA stands for public display of affection, and many students within these school walls despise PDA, except for those few who are participating in it. As the display of affection becomes more prominent, passing period becomes more awkward because there is at least one couple cuddling in the corner. “I think PDA is okay to an extent. A little hand holding, or a hug is cute. Not more than that, though,” Afshan Munawar said. “I’m tired of seeing kids kissing in the halls, like okay, we can tell you’re dating.”

Assumedly, teachers have an opinion on the different displays they’ve seen, but there isn’t necessarily a rule book on what kids can and can’t do. This leads kids to being able to partake in quite a bit of PDA within the hallways. “Hand holding and like the short hug is fun, but then you have the people sitting in a ball cuddling in front of the stairs in the way of everyone. That gets annoying. PDA shouldn’t be done to a point where everyone collectively agrees that they don’t want to see it,” Kayla Moreno said.

Even people in relationships don’t enjoy it; it varies depending on personal preference as some couples don’t care, but others are awkward or embarrassed to be physical in any way in public. “Coming from someone who has participated in PDA, it’s like okay, like I get it, it’s cute. But I also hate PDA at the same time in a way. Kissing or anything is like that is awkward. Max is hand holding or resting your head on their shoulder you know? People need to get a room to be honest,” Sabrina Betita said.

Overall, majority of students are okay with the average hand hold or hug but would call it off at that. “A solution would just be to stop, I guess. Like I said, holding hands is cute and all but once you start kissing each other it’s nasty,” Betita added.
