“Separation is in the preparation,” Girls Varsity golf coach, Mr. May said. There is no doubt we have talented athletes at our school and their hard work is evident in our athletes’ dedication to be ready for the first game by starting out work outs early.

Our spring sports athletes are already prepping for the new season. There are only a few weeks left until the first day of practice for spring sports. Our teams are preparing for the upcoming season in many ways to ensure a successful season. Girls Golf, Boys Golf, Track and field, Girls tennis, Baseball, Fast Pitch, Boys Soccer and Lacrosse are all preparing to improve from last season because practice makes permanent. “I absolutely think it is a good idea for players to prepare for the season. Baseball is a sport that requires your arm to be ready and warmed up for try-outs. If the first day of practice is the first time you have thrown, you won’t be ready for the season,” Varsity Baseball Coach Blair said.

All of our spring sports have some type of scheduled pre-season training. For example, Fast Pitch has catching and throwing on Tuesdays and work outs on Fridays. Golf has Wednesday and Friday morning practices at 6:40 in the weight room. Lacrosse has winter practices every Monday and Tuesday. “The Tennis players all meet together on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school to get practice in before the season starts,” Junior Laurel Albrecht said.

Athletes have many different things that motivate them to work hard in their sport. Some are working towards a goal like going to state or districts and others partake in pre-season work outs to make the on season work outs less taxing. “I work out almost every day to get in shape for track and so hell week doesn’t suck,” Senior Kendall Larson said.

Our athletes’ hard work shows that our school gives nothing less than 100% when preparing for game day.
