The Glacier Peak Grizzlies Junior Varsity team (8-0-1) took on the Oak Harbor Wildcats (3-5-1) at home on April 21st. The grizzlies are hot on a winning streak and came out in the first inning driving the score up 5-0.

“It’s really nice to get up in the first inning because it settles us in and we don’t have to worry about if we make a mistake,” catcher Megan Parsley said.

The second inning included an over the fence, two run Homerun by Rachel Schonhard.

“After I hit the ball, I was not feeling like running since it was so cold so it was nice to clear off the bases for my team and hit in two runs and also get my first homerun of the season,” she said.

The innings went on and the score increased to 9-0 in the fourth. During the top of the 4th inning, Schonhard pitched to three straight batters striking them all out.

“I enjoy striking out three batters in a row. I know my team likes it too so we can get back to offense and hit up the score,” Schonhard said.

The girls scored four more runs in the 5th inning and finished the game early by 10 running Oak Harbor. The team celebrated with a tap dance battle in the dugout after the win.

“Tap your shoes to the rhythm of a winner! We like to have a good time after a win. It keeps our spirits high for the next game,” Bethany Poteet said.
